Much of our so-called 'knowledge' isn't knowledge at all, it is advertising, propoganda, and Memetric Fields http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meme. 500 years ago, mainstream knowledge thought the earth was the center of the universe. Yet we subconsciously accept many common misconceptions currently held by the mainstream. The crowd is always wrong, yet most follow the crowd - this couldn't be more true on Wall Street. This isn't revolutionary, or unconventional thinking, or philosophical, it is an approach, through stating the obvious, for developing a new intelligence in an out-dated, dysfunctional, industrial system. That new intelligence and understanding will manifest in realized profits for those who choose to understand it. We somehow assume that world leaders and others in prominent positions know what they are doing, when history proves the contrary. World history is a series of catastrophic mistakes, yet people always accept their current reality as the best one without questioning the status quo.
This is acceptable until the system shows signs of collapse or malfunction. The current paradigm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paradigm is failing and does not allow for change or evolution.
We assume that a bank with 20 Trillion in assets knows what they are doing, they have a plan, they have it all figured out.

Note: For anyone wanting to see EES strategies, much information is available in our forums. The URL is http://www.eesfx.com anyone can register. It is a joomla portal with fireboard forums. The wiki is a great intelligence building resource but doesn't have the functionality of a forum. If we are building systems we should start to use the forum as well.
May 13, 2008 Financial Dictionary of Terms NOTE: The only thing that matters in this game is RESULTS. Nobody cares who you are, what your name is, where you come from, what language you speak or don't speak, what are your credentials, etc. The great thing is that everyone is developing something that mostly doesn't work, so if our results are not GREAT than we are just like a thousand other developers, and we will have experience to get a high paying job as a quant in NY (average 750k USD/ year). If we make a strategy that doesn't work, we don't need to post the results. However, if we have something that works, then we are the champions. Point being, we can work on something for years and have it not work, there isn't any negative consequences. However if we find something that works we have all the positive benefit. It is important to understand this relationship: low input high impact - regardless of the probability of success, it is smart to proceed based on those circumstances.

recap of meeting: Playstation 3 / YDL based trading engine, programmed from scratch using YDL compiler (Fortran?), with the final application loaded with IronKey. Saxo API vs. HotSpot API to monitor differences in price feed. Strategy should include variables such as latency, slippage, off-quotes, re-quotes, price leaning, time-to-fill, and price comparison between brokers. Tradestation is the trading version of Matlabs. Both are good tools for development but are not robust platforms for actual trading. Still, we should for development sake link Matlabs, Tradestation, and Metatrader, to Saxo API. Strategies can be discussed in www.eesfx.com, if necessary we can allow only team members security clearance to view (don't worry about anyone viewing posts).
